Curaçao Monuments
The most elegant "Scharloo Street"

- Some quotes from Pro Monumento -

Curaçao is the largest of the 5 islands of the Netherlands Antilles which reside
under the Dutch Kingdom. The capital of Curaçao, Willemstad, features
a unique blend of Dutch architecture with a definite local tropical influence.
In 1997, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee decided to put
the inner city and harbour of Willemstad on the World Heritage List,
based on cultural criteria.

It was considered 'that the Historic Area of Willemstad is a European
colonial ensemble in the Caribbean of outstanding value and integrity,
which illustrates the organic growth of a multicultural community over
three centuries and preserves to a high degree significant elements
of the many strands that came together to create it.'
